Camping Mane-en-Provence

Discover the village of Mane, nestled between the mountains of Lure and the Luberon in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department.

Do you know Mane?

Mane, or Mane-en-Provence as it is sometimes known, is a small leafy village whose colours change with the turn of the seasons. If you’re looking for somewhere restful and authentic, this is the place for you. The village has been awarded the “Village or Town of Character” label, a distinction conferred by the departmental tourist board to French towns with a rich architectural and natural heritage.

When staying at one of our campsites, why not pay a visit to the Château de Sauvan, sometimes referred to as the “Petit Trianon of Provence”? It is a listed historical monument and boasts the “Remarkable Gardens of France” label. You can take a guided tour, with a package including lunch in the Orangery room, which is sure to please history buffs and gourmets! You could also hire a mountain bike to explore the surrounding area. There are several possible routes, from a gentle ride to a demanding tour to challenge the more athletic among you! Your cycle ride will take you past cliffs, and through forests and scrubland.

The hiking trails also promise a multitude of attractions and discoveries. For example, Salagon invites you to explore its gardens which harbour 1,700 species of herbs and medicinal plants. Meanwhile, its museum traces the history and culture of Haute-Provence in a series of photographs, objects and temporary exhibitions which are different every year.
After your lovely day out, take a seat in one of the village’s many restaurants where you can enjoy the local cuisine, whether you prefer fine dining or something more relaxed – there’s something for everyone. La Reine des Prés, a welcoming traditional restaurant, occupies a fully renovated 18th-century farm. Here the two managers serve up a range of entirely home-made dishes using local and seasonal produce.

Did you know?

When you stroll along the upper street of this circle-shaped community, you’ll notice that the village’s buildings all adhere to a very harmonious architectural style. All their façades are built using “Mane stone”, from the nearby quarries. Mane-en-Provence is the only completely fortified village in the Haute-Provence. If you head up to the top, you’ll see the fortifications dominated by the immaculate and imposing Mane Citadel, which is definitely worth a peek.

On your agenda?

Unwind at your campsite and enjoy some sightseeing in the village. How would you like to spend a holiday with family or friends surrounded by glorious green nature? This is what Mane-en-Provence promises. You can wander through the maze of narrow streets and visit the craft shops offering a vast choice of handmade goods including cosmetics, decorations, sculptures and even lamps.
